How to roll back to stock OS in Windows Phone
Since the Launch Event of Windows Insider back in January 2015, Microsoft started rolling out Insider builds ( most commonly known as Preview builds ) of Windows 10 Mobile to Windows Phone 8.1 users. This created a new era for Windows lovers to enjoy its latest builds before common public or the RTM release. Drawbacks may include lots of bugs and incomplete features through out the mobile phone. Some devices get bricked while upgrading to Insider builds. Even the latest Windows 10 Mobile build 10512 that’s available right now to “Fast Ring” Insiders contain a lot of bugs.
So if you happen to get into trouble for such software issues or you simply have done your testing of ‘ going to be the future Windows 10’, Microsoft provides us an application namely “Windows Phone Recovery Tool” for PCs that will allow you to switch back to normal and so called official Windows Phone 8.1.
How to get back to the most stable and official version of Windows Phone 8.1
1. Download and install the latest version of the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to your PC. Launch the recovery tool and connect your phone using a USB cable. If your mobile phone got bricked or simply isn’t detected, click My phone was not detected to force the application to re-scan and detect your phone.
Next, the recovery tool will warn you to backup all your data, settings, and apps before continuing, as the rolling back process will delete all the previous data in your phone.
4.Confirm it by clicking Continue to proceed or simply backup your data manually (if phone’s not bricked) and continue from Step 1.
Now, the recovery tool will download the latest available stable software from Microsoft’s servers and replace your current software in the phone.
The process will take some time depending on your internet connection.
